Woodburn/Maumee deserves a choice of Candidate(s)when you vote in November !!!
Too often in the past years, Woodburn Residents and Maumee Township Residents were not offered real choices in their local elections. No candidate had to campaign or fight for your vote. The candidates see no opposition candidate; there is no competition. Competition brings out the best. But running an uncontested race harms the voters.
This has several bad effects, including.....
1). Many voters become disillusioned with the election process and results. We hear, "my vote doesn't count"
2). Elected candidates don't work(earn) your vote because they don't need to really campaign. There is no competition. Imagine your child's sports team having their Senior Home game without a visiting team there to compete. Is that a victory by default?
3). When elected candidates take office, they don't feel obligated to keep you informed. The elected candidates see no one in their rear view mirror.
In the case of Maumee Township, all of the 4 current board members ran unopposed. What choice did that offer you the voter. Do the township board
members keep you informed regarding their activities or decisions. When was the last time you received an update or visit from these elected officials.
I want to offer the citizens of Woodburn and Maumee Township a real CHOICE in this midterm election.
Why This Matters for Maumee
Our township is the foundation of our local government. When we have contested races, we have better conversations about our future. Let’s make sure the next ballot reflects the full strength of our community.
